SimBeam — Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 7, 2026
SimBeam (“the app”) is an iPhone and iPad app that lets you view and control iOS Simulators
running on a Mac you pair with. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with data.
In short: SimBeam has no user accounts, shows no ads, uses no analytics or
tracking, and shares no data with third parties. Everything the app stores stays on your device.
Data stored on your device
- Pairing identity — a cryptographic key pair generated on your device to
identify it to the Macs you pair with. The private key never leaves your device; only the
corresponding public key is used to authenticate to your Macs.
- Paired Macs — the connection details of Macs you have paired (address,
name, macOS version, and the Mac’s public key).
- Recent simulators and snapshots — the app saves the last video frame of a
simulator you stream so it can show a thumbnail. These images are stored only on your device.
You can remove all of this by unpairing a Mac or deleting the app.
Data transmitted to make a connection
To connect your device to a simulator, the app exchanges only what is needed to establish a
direct, low-latency connection:
- Your device’s public key, sent to the signaling service and the Mac to
authenticate the pairing.
- Network address information (IP addresses and connectivity candidates),
exchanged via WebRTC to set up the peer-to-peer connection — standard for real-time media.
The signaling service and the Mac are determined by the pairing code you scan — typically your
own or your organization’s infrastructure. The video stream and control commands travel directly
between your device and the Mac and are not collected or stored by the app’s developer.
What the app does not collect
- No name, email, phone number, or account.
- No advertising identifiers, no analytics, and no crash-tracking SDKs.
- No location, contacts, photos, or microphone access.
- No data is sold or shared with third parties.
Camera
The app uses the camera only to scan a pairing QR code. It does not take or store photos or video.
Children
SimBeam is a developer tool and is not directed to children.
Changes
